This year's event will be held at Homestead Gardens in Smyrna, DE, and will feature family-friendly activities, music, games, food, and more! "We are taking this year's event to the lush grounds of Homestead Gardens in Smyrna, DE, voted Delaware's Best Garden Center. You'll weave through thousands of seasonal plants and activities guaranteed to bring out the green monster in you," said Hayley Ross, Marketing Manager at Homestead Gardens.

All proceeds from the 2023 Monster Mile for a Cause benefit DBCC’s programs that increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms, and provide support and resources to men and women in our local community who are newly diagnosed or facing recurrence of breast cancer.

Homestead Gardens will offer walk participants a $10 off $50 coupon for purchases made at Homestead Gardens during the event. Additionally, during the month of October, Homestead Gardens offers customers an option to round up their total to support DBCC.

In Support of Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition
The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) is a 501(c)(3) staffed by a combined number of 25 full-time and part-time employees and has an office serving citizens in each of the three counties in Delaware – New Castle, Kent, and Sussex.

DBCC has developed and implemented programs tailored to the unique needs of different populations, including young women with breast cancer, African-American women, Latinas, lesbians, and women with disabilities. DBCC has trained healthcare providers who implement culturally competent care and has conducted many educational sessions for the general public in partnership with corporate and community organizations.

In addition, DBCC has referred and navigated thousands of uninsured adults for free and low-cost cancer screenings and has removed barriers to cancer screenings and treatment by providing interpretation, transportation, and support services.

As a member of the National Breast Cancer Coalition, represented on its board of directors, DBCC has worked to support the national organization’s efforts to research the causes of breast cancer and pursue optimal treatments and cures.

The vision of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition is to create a caring community where barriers to breast cancer screenings are removed and all persons at risk served by DBCC have access to quality care and treatment. DBCC will ensure each individual diagnosed receives resources to become a thriving survivor, armed with the knowledge and support needed to conquer this disease.
