In Support of Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition
The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) is a 501(c)(3) staffed by a combined number of 25 full-time and part-time employees and has an office serving citizens in each of the three counties in Delaware – New Castle, Kent, and Sussex.

DBCC has developed and implemented programs tailored to the unique needs of different populations, including young women with breast cancer, African-American women, Latinas, lesbians, and women with disabilities. DBCC has trained healthcare providers who implement culturally competent care and has conducted many educational sessions for the general public in partnership with corporate and community organizations.

In addition, DBCC has referred and navigated thousands of uninsured adults for free and low-cost cancer screenings and has removed barriers to cancer screenings and treatment by providing interpretation, transportation, and support services.

As a member of the National Breast Cancer Coalition, represented on its board of directors, DBCC has worked to support the national organization’s efforts to research the causes of breast cancer and pursue optimal treatments and cures.

The vision of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition is to create a caring community where barriers to breast cancer screenings are removed and all persons at risk served by DBCC have access to quality care and treatment. DBCC will ensure each individual diagnosed receives resources to become a thriving survivor, armed with the knowledge and support needed to conquer this disease.

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) is honored to recognize the 2023 Shining Light honoree, L&W Insurance, headquartered in Dover, Delaware. The L&W team has been touched by breast cancer personally and in an effort to honor those impacted, the team at L&W generously volunteers their time, talents, and expertise to help benefit and support DBCC.

Over the last decade, the staff of L&W Insurance has been incredibly supportive of DBCC. The team members have chaired event committees, served as event emcees, and even shared their office space to host agency meetings, store inventory, and more.

The entire team shares a passion for supporting the life-saving programs of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. They recognize we're stronger together as a community and have woven philanthropy into the fabric of their company culture. DBCC is honored to recognize the entire L&W Insurance team and organization for their time, dedication, and commitment to DBCC and the local community we serve in the fight against breast cancer.

Please join us to celebrate this distinguished honor and the work of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. Event proceeds and tax-deductible donations help to support the continuance of Survivorship Programs offered by DBCC.

With the pandemic behind us, the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition has worked tirelessly to continue being a resource and helping hand to those needing our programs and services. Working with partners like L&W Insurance, we have gotten individuals back on track, prioritized their health, and offered survivorship services and programs if diagnosed. Sadly, new women and men are diagnosed with breast cancer every day.

During 2023 it is estimated that there will be 1,050 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in Delaware. With continued support from supporters like you, DBCC will be there for those individuals to provide information, education, support services, and hope as they begin their breast cancer journey.
